Here are tips and things to know for using DM Note more effectively.

Using with Games

Fullscreen Mode Issues

In some games’ fullscreen mode, the overlay may not work properly.

Solutions:

  • Run the game in borderless windowed mode.
  • Or select windowed mode in game settings.

Overlay Placement Tips

To place the overlay over the game screen:

  1. Enable the Always on top option.
  2. Move the overlay to the desired position.
  3. Enable the Lock overlay window option.

Enabling window lock prevents accidentally moving the overlay.

OBS Settings

Capturing with Transparent Background

To maintain transparent background without chroma key in OBS Studio:

  1. Select Add Source > Window Capture.
  2. Select DM Note overlay window for Window.
  3. Set Capture Method to Windows 10 (1903 and later).
  4. Check Capture client area.

Capturing Game and Overlay Together

To capture both game and overlay at once:

  • Add the game with Game Capture.
  • Add the overlay with Window Capture.
  • Place the overlay source above the game source.

Performance Optimization

Graphics Troubleshooting

If the overlay has flickering or rendering issues:

  1. Go to Settings > Graphics Settings.
  2. Try changing the Rendering Option to a different value.
    • Direct3D 11 → Direct3D 9
    • Direct3D 9 → OpenGL

Reducing Resource Usage

  • Disable unused note effects.
  • Disable unnecessary plugins.

Troubleshooting

Key Input Not Detected

  1. Try running the program with Administrator privileges.
  2. Check if antivirus software is blocking the program.
  3. Verify key mapping is configured correctly.

Settings Not Saving

  1. Check if you have write permissions to %appdata%/com.dmnote.desktop folder.
  2. If the folder doesn’t exist, run the program again to auto-create it.

Program Won’t Start

  1. Check if WebView2 Runtime is installed.
  2. It’s pre-installed on Windows 10/11, but if missing, download from Microsoft’s official site .

Custom CSS Tips

Real-time Application

If custom CSS is enabled and using a file path, changes are automatically reapplied when you modify/save the CSS file.

If not applied:

  1. Check that Enable Custom CSS is on
  2. Reselect the CSS file in settings or
  3. Restart the program.

CSS Debugging

Open Developer Tools with Ctrl+Shift+I to inspect elements and test CSS.

Backup

Regularly backup important settings:

%appdata%/com.dmnote.desktop/

Copying this entire folder backs up all settings, presets, and plugin data.
